District 99 Honors English

In order to be considered for Honors English at Downers North and Downers South, students must sit for a writing session. The results of this written essay will be one of 4 evaluations used to place the students. You will be receiving a letter, in the Friday folder that explains the Districts procedure. Date for the writing of the essay are: Monday 12-3-12 at South High 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. room C364 Saturday 12-8-12 at North High 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. room 349 Tuesday 12-11-12 at South High 6:30-7:30 p.m. room C364 Students may take the essay section at either school. 8th Grade Pictures This week we will be having school pictures. The date is Thursday Oct. 18. It is an out of uniform day, so the kids can dress up. Also remember that after the first of the year, 8th graders have special graduation picture sittings. We will let you know the date, when we are notified. Gene Murphy and Lauren Corso

Have a Happy Easter

Have a very happy and blessed Easter.

The students are beginning their count down.
Please remind them that school is not over and that they should be "practicing" their study skills in order to be prepared for high school. It is very important that they get off to a good start in high school.

They are wonderful and full of potential. Next year begins a time that will have a great influence on the rest of their lives.

Shadow Stations of the Cross

The eighth grade annual tradition of the Shadow Stations of the Cross will take place this Friday, April 15,2011.

The location is in the school hall at 1:20 P.M.

Graduation Picture retakes

For those who did not like the graduation pictures, the retake date is

March 21.

For retakes, all current order forms should be returned. Students having retakes should bring their cap and gown and wear their dress clothes for pictures.

On March 2, 2011, the eighth graders were given the graduation proofs.


All proofs and any orders should be returned no later than March 10th
Please place your order so that all information may be seen through the plastic window.

If retakes are necessary, a future date will be selected and notification given.

Graduation pictures

On Friday Jan 28th, each student was given an envelope for graduation group pictures. The cost is $15.00 per picture. The pictures are of the graduation class, all together. One picture is all the students in cap and gowns the other they are in their dress clothes.
These forms should be brought back with a check and selected picture(s) circled on the form on FEB. 11th

For the individual graduation pictures, the students will receive proofs in a few weeks. You may then choose a pose or have retakes at a later date.
